Mosquito Control

Trusted, Experienced Mosquito Control Company in NJ

At Last Bite Mosquito and Tick Control, our highly trained and licensed team of technicians will survey your yard and pinpoint any high-risk areas that might be used as mosquito breeding grounds. A fine mist of our Barrier Spray is going to be applied to the perimeter of your home. The treatment will include trees, shrubs, evergreens, flowers, foliage plants, and all areas that may attract mosquitoes within the treatment area. Larvicide will then be placed on all mosquito breeding grounds at no additional charge. Our Barrier Spray treatment kills mosquitoes and ticks on contact and continues to offer protection for up to three weeks. All products we use are EPA approved.

Is Mosquito Control Treatment Safe For Your Family and Pets?

We use an EPA-approved water-based solution that contains the synthetic version of Pyrethrum (an organic compound called pyrethroids) which comes from the flower heads of Chrysanthemums (The African Daisy). Pyrethroids are used in lice shampoos for children and are also found in flea shampoos for dogs. We do recommend staying out of the treated area until it dries, which in most cases is about thirty minutes. A risk/benefit balancing analysis that was conducted by the EPA saw the advantages of permethrin dramatically outweighing the risks. In a comparative test with DEET, when applied directly on the skin, typically less than 1% of the active Permethrin ingredient is absorbed into the body; DEET is typically absorbed over twenty times that rate.

Does Mosquito Control Treatment Hurt Plants?

Many of our clients are often worried that the chemicals and treatments that target mosquitoes will harm their gardens and the plants in their yards. Since our chemicals are derived from plants and formulated to target pests, your plants will not be harmed.

Mosquito Control From Last Bite

All of our mosquito control treatment service packages include treatment every three weeks during mosquito season. We will call, text, or email (based on your preference) one or two days before each treatment as a reminder.

A typical treatment will average about ten to twenty minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat. Each treatment lasts approximately twenty-one days, at which time our team will be scheduled to treat your yard again. The fine mist Barrier Spray that we use kills adult mosquitoes on contact during the first application. The dried residue will continue to provide mosquito protection for three weeks (twenty-one days) when the mosquitoes land or feed on the sprayed vegetation. The follow-up treatments will kill the larvae of the mosquitoes creating a safe and fun backyard.

Mosquito-Borne Diseases Common in NJ

On top of the generally annoying nature of mosquitoes, they are also carriers of a number of diseases that can be very serious. Some of the diseases that mosquitoes in NJ can carry include:

  • Zika
  • California Encephalitis
  • Eastern Equine Encephalitis
  • Saint Louis Encephalitis
  • West Nile Virus
  • Dengue Fever
  • Malaria
  • Chikungunya
  • Dog Heartworm

Mosquito control treatment will greatly reduce your risk of mosquito bites that could potentially carry these diseases. Utilizing seasonal mosquito control services is a great way to keep your family safe and comfortable in the summer, and will allow you to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.

Will Rain Affect the Efficacy of the Treatment?

The chemicals we use take about a half-hour to dry and after that has happened, rainfall will not affect how long the treatment lasts (twenty-one days).

What Can You Do to Help Get Rid of Mosquitoes in Your Yard?

While mosquito control services are the most effective way to combat mosquitoes in your yard, there are several other things you can do during yard maintenance to reduce the number of mosquitoes even further.

  • Remove any standing water in your yard.
  • Trim your grass and plants.
  • Get rid of objects that collect water, such as tarps and buckets.
  • Purchase foliage that repels (or at the very least doesn’t attract) mosquitoes.
  • Get scheduled mosquito control treatments.

About

Bite Back With Last Bite Mosquito And Tick Control

We are a local, independent family-owned and operated business. We love spending time outdoors with our families but over the years the mosquitoes have become unbearable in New Jersey. We all dread the routine of spraying down our young children with chemicals, our dogs continually getting chewed up, and finding ourselves inside more than we like.
